Brent E. Haywood is a native Tennessean where he obtained his Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering in 1997 from The University of Tennessee-Knoxville in which he graduated Magna Cum Laude. In 1999, he earned his Masters in Environmental Engineering also from The University of Tennessee-Knoxville.
Brent is married to Shana Clayton Haywood and they have two sons, Paxton and Garrett.
Brent began his career in the utility industry at Memphis Light, Gas and Water in June of 1999. He worked his way through several engineering and leadership positions up to the Manager of Gas Engineering & Operations in May 2008.
In October 2012, Brent took the next step in his career by accepting the position of Director of Engineering at CoServ Gas Ltd in North Texas. As the Director of Engineering, Brent’s main charge was to organize the internal engineering resources and develop the department structure and implementation plan.
In June 2014, Brent made another career progression when he accepted a position as the Director of Design and Construction with Xcel Energy in Denver, CO. In addition to his design and construction responsibilities, Brent served as the Gas Operations Champion for Xcel’s Gas Operations.
In September 2016, Brent accepted the position of Vice President of Operations with the Okaloosa Gas District in Valparaiso, FL. As Vice President of Operations, Brent’s responsibilities include engineering, construction, system operations, maintenance and regulatory compliance for the District.
In November 2023, Brent was honored to be selected as the General Manager & Chief Executive Officer at Lake Apopka Natural Gas District (LANGD). As GM/CEO, Brent is charged with leading the LANGD Vision. “To be the preferred natural gas energy provider of consumers within our service territory.”
Brent is a licensed Professional Engineer in Tennessee, Texas, Colorado and Florida. He has and continues to serve as an active member in many industry organizations, including: APGA, SGA, AGA, GTI, and Florida Natural Gas Association.
